Education Reimagined: The Dimensions of Tytana`s Blended Learning
Education Reimagined: The Dimensions of Tytana`s Blended Learning
May 27, 2020
With the new reality the coronavirus pandemic has created, blended learning appears to be the benchmark of the future of education. Blended learning is an approach that integrates online practices with face-to-face instruction. Rooted in its commitment to provide quality education and with its transformative vision, the Manila Tytana Colleges (Tytana) is dedicated to reshape its instructional strategy as an adaptive response to the current challenge the education sector is faced with.
As for online learning methods, it can be synchronous and asynchronous. Synchronous learning occurs when instructors and students interact real-time in a specific virtual place. It may include video conferencing, live chat, webinars, etc. Asynchronous is a self-paced method that allows instructors to provide materials for reading, assignment, or examinations, which students are enabled to access and accomplish within a flexible time frame. Features include uploaded modules and lecture notes, audio-visual presentations, virtual tours, discussion threads, among others. These should be integrated into classroom sessions in a way that complements and enhances the traditional approach to learning.
Tytana always recognizes its students` welfare and diverse needs as top priorities. While the opening of classes is set in August, it is to be expected that face-to-face instruction, including activities that require physical presence, would begin around October to November, should circumstances permit, so as to efficiently minimize the risks the students may be dealing with. This is to spare them from transportation difficulty and crowded places, and to maintain safe distancing as a preventive measure. These new ways may seem tough and unusual but need to be put in practice. Safety of students cannot be compromised.
As this new dimension would have a big impact on the overall education experience, Tytana ensures that it would find harmonic balance in these new learning components and thoroughly guide its students through the paradigm shift. This collective approach stems from Tytana`s reimagining of education through developing alternative ways to deliver instruction while maintaining the safety and well-being of its students.
